About Our Alarms. All alarms are manufactured with simplicity of installation in mind. No confusing switches - simply install the batteries and plug in the pad, that's all there is to it. Works each and every time. Whether you need monitoring in a Nursing Home or are caring for a loved-one at home, we have put our 30 years of experience in the medical products industry to work for you.
The units are manufactured in both direct wire and wireless configurations. In either case, a sensor detects when pressure is no longer applied to the pressure sensitive pad or mat and then sounds the alarm. In wired systems, a small unit hanging on the bed or wheelchair emits a beeping alert at approximately 105db.
In wireless systems, a signal is transmitted to a remote receiver. The signal will pass through most walls, ceilings and floors, up to 100 feet depending upon structural materials. The signal causes the remote receiver to sound the alert. The unit will continue to sound until pressure is re-applied to the pad or mat or the unit is turned off. The alert signal is a pleasant sound (Winchester Chimes).
All units are simple to use. inserting or removing the plug turns the unit on and off as well as re-applying pressure to the mat or pad. In wireless units, the receiver is powered by three type C batteries. The transmitter is powered by one nine volt battery and a small 12 volt battery. All batteries are supplied and in normal daily use, battery life can be six months to a year. .
